Here are the VERY important rites and ceremonies that must be performed when necessary.
The Birth Rite
Basically the naming of a newborn. The mother must also name the pack it will live in(only necessary when half-pack). The pack's Alpha pair sit on their announcment platform, whatever it is, and hold up the child, announcing these words:
"On this day, we celebrate the coming of a new member! She/he will be called (insert name here) of (insert pack here)! Son/daughter of (mother's name) and (father's name), we welcome you to (pack)."
Coming-of-Age Ceremony
The ceremony that signifies a pup becoming an adult. Synonymous a boy becoming a man, a girl becoming a woman. Typically occuring at the ages of 12-15 years. The child or children of focus will kneel before the Alpha pair, special marks that symbolize themselves painted on their faces. The Alphas make them take this oath with their right forepaw raised:
"I (insert name here) of (insert pack here) do so solemnly swear on this day that I shall uphold my duties to the pack in any and all ways I can. I will obey the orders of all ranked above me and treat all wolves with respect and honor unless they deserve no better. I solemnly swear."
The Mating Rite
This rite signifies the point where a member of the pack chooses a mate. This happens in late winter, typically January-March but only when two werewolves decide to become mated for life. They must go to the top of Mt. Aurora and perform a secret dance that only they know. It is intricate and symbolizes te pair's love for each other. To interupt this rite is to be sentenced to death.
The Life Rite
Similar to the Birth Rite, however this is the actual birth of the child. Drums are played to the heartbeat of the pack, a low, slow Dum...duh-dum...dum...duh-dum. It grows quicker the nearer to the end of labor until the baby is born, when the drums all make one final, loud thump. The oldest healer will act as midwife while the mate will sit alongside the mother, regardless if it is the father or not. The next night the Birth Rite is performed.
Those are all the rites so far but I am open to suggestions! If you have an idea for a new rite or ceremony just send me a pm! ;D
